Having a Ball at Boca Bayou!

Lots of those who call the condos at Boca Bayou home took advantage of the extra time on their hands to master a new game! You could often see them playing bocce ball – and hear them laughing – on the bocce courts at Boca Bayou.

As the folks at The Spruce explain, “Bocce, also known as Italian lawn bowling, is one of the most widely played games in the world. It is one of the oldest lawn or yard games.”

According to the World Bocce League, “Bocce Ball was first documented in a 5200 B.C. painting of two boys playing, which was discovered by an English scientist, Sir Francis Petrial, in an Egyptian tomb.”

One of the great thing abouts about bocce is that the game is simple and easy to understand, so that even beginners can quickly pick it up and enjoy playing. The goal is to get your balls closer to the pallino (a smaller ball which is used for the target) than your opponents. You score a point for each ball that ends up closer to the pallino.
