The townhomes and condominiums at Boca Bayou in Boca Raton already offer lots of great outdoor amenities, including a swimming pool, a putting green for you golfers, tennis courts, boating facilities and even a lovely picnic area with waterfront views. But with the opening of Phase II of the Hillsboro El Rio Park – which is on SW 18th Street, just across the street from beautiful Boca Bayou – there will be even more ways to enjoy the open air in this fabulous South Florida neighborhood.

Hillsboro El Rio Park

Development of the second phase of the Hillsboro El Rio Park officially began about a year ago.
(If you want to see some great images of the park at various stages of its development, check out the city’s park page.)  It will be Boca Raton’s newest waterfront park when it officially opens on February 22.

Located on the south side of SW 18th Street between Dixie Highway and the El Rio Canal, the newest of Boca Raton’s lovely parks features 14 acres of possibilities to gather, play and enjoy nature!

Amenities at the new park include:

  • A 10,000+ square-foot playground
  • Facilities where you and your family can enjoy a little basketball action, a game of pickleball or even a volleyball game
  • Access to the El Rio Canal where you can your kayak or paddleboard
  • Lots of lush green grounds and trails
  • Picnic pavilions

Phase 1 of the Hillsboro El Rio Park, which is on the north side of 18th Street, offers athletic fields. That park opened to the public in 2002. Boca Raton Fire Station 8, which is situated on the northeastern section of the city-owned parcel, was dedicated in 2005.
