I’ll start right here at home. One of the most underrated sunset experiences in Boca Raton is watching the sky change color over the Hillsboro Canal from Hillsboro El Rio Park South on SW 18th Street — right across from Boca Bayou. The water goes glassy in the evening, the boats slow down, and the colors reflect off the canal beautifully. Also, it costs nothing, parking is free, and it takes five minutes to get to. For Boca Bayou residents, this is your secret sunset spot.
South Beach Park & the A1A Beachfront
For the classic Boca sunset experience, head to South Beach Park at 400 N State Road A1A. The beach faces east for sunrises, but the evening light along A1A at golden hour is something else entirely — warm, soft, and perfect for a long walk along the shore as the sky turns pink and orange. The park is open until sundown seven days a week. Meanwhile, the Intracoastal side just west of A1A catches beautiful reflected light as the sun drops. It’s a two-for-one.
South County Regional Park – West Boca’s Best Kept Secret
If you’re willing to drive about 20 minutes west, Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park at 11200 Park Access Road offers some of the most spectacular sunset views in Palm Beach County. Wide open skies, a large lake, and virtually no obstruction between you and the horizon. The sun sets directly over the water here, casting vivid oranges and purples across the sky. Additionally, the park is open sunrise to sunset daily, free to enter, and has ample parking and walking trails — making it a perfect early evening outing before dinner.
Waterstone Resort & Marina – Intracoastal Sunset with a Cocktail
For a more elevated experience, Waterstone Resort & Marina sits directly on Lake Boca at the Intracoastal Waterway. You don’t need to be a guest — the waterfront promenade is accessible and the sunset views over the water are stunning. Pair it with a cocktail at the Waterstone Rum Bar & Grill and you’ve got one of the best happy hours in the city. Furthermore, watching the light change over Lake Boca as boats come in for the evening is one of those quintessential South Florida moments.
Nearby: Red Reef Park – Sunset Glow on the Atlantic
Just a short drive north on A1A, Red Reef Park offers a different kind of evening experience. While the sun sets behind you to the west, the golden and pink light it casts across the Atlantic is genuinely breathtaking.
