Hurricane Season Comes to Boca Bayou

by | May 23, 2022 | Blog

There are a lot of wonderful things about living in Boca Raton.  While hurricane season, which started June 1, may not be one of them, you can be sure that the Boca Bayou Condominium Association and the management of the beautiful apartments for rent in Boca Bayou are prepared to weather any storm. You’ll also find a lot of renovated Boca Bayou real estate with hurricane impact windows.

Those of us who have been through hurricane season in Boca Raton before have learned that there are plenty of things you can do to make it a little less stressful – starting with planning and preparation.

The National Hurricane Center is a great resource, both for tracking any possible storms that might develop this summer and for tips that can help you be prepared, like these:

  • Develop an evacuation plan. If you decide to evacuate, make sure you know where you will be heading. And don’t forget to make plans for your pets – not all shelters allow pets. If a storm has the potential to come our way, go ahead and fill up your gas tank (you’ll be so proud of yourself when you turn on the TV and see other people lined up at gas stations!)
  • Assemble Disaster Supplies. There’s nothing that says you have to wait until we’re under a hurricane watch to stock up on things like water, non-perishable food items and batteries.  You’ll also want to have enough cash and medicine on hand.

I’d like to add something to the list:

  • Don’t Panic! Remember, Boca Bayou has stood up to any number of storms since it was built. It might also interest you to know that it’s not the winds of a hurricane that usually cause the most damage – it’s flooding.

And remember, when you buy or rent in Boca Bayou, you will never be snowed in!
