Frequently Asked Questions
Are pets allowed in Boca Bayou?
Technically Boca Bayou is a no pet community, but we have more pets than we ever have had. If you do have a pet, the only way that you will be allowed to have your pet here in Bayou currently would be to have either a service animal or an ESA animal (emotional support animal). They do require proper documentation to support your pet. We do have areas for dog walking and you are required to clean up after your pet.
Can I Airbnb my condo in Boca Bayou?
That’s a great question. I know a lot of people would like to, but we do have rental restrictions here in Boca Bayou, you are allowed to rent your condo only one time a year, and your year starts from the first day of your new lease. So it’s not a calendar year. It is one year from the last time you rented it. And we have a minimum of three months. Most Airbnbs are for a week here or a month there, or a couple weeks here. And most Airbnbs, you want to be able to turn over your clients. Um, more often that is not allowed here.
Can I install a washer and dryer in my condo in Boca Bayou?
Washer and dryer availability in Boca Bayou condos depends on the building. Units in the Caribbean section, Harbor Home section, and Buildings 15–21 were originally built with washer and dryer hookups and are permitted. Buildings 1–14 and Building 22 do not allow new washer and dryer installations, even though some older units may still have them from past approvals.
If you’re purchasing a Boca Bayou condo with an existing washer and dryer, it’s important to verify that the installation was association-approved and properly permitted, as non-approved units may be required to remove them. For units without in-unit laundry, Boca Bayou offers recently renovated, waterfront common laundry rooms on the first floor of each building, which are well-maintained and rarely crowded.
Can I keep my boat here in Boca Bayou?
Yes, Boca Bayou allows residents to keep boats. The community has approximately 150 boat docks, including association-managed docks with an average monthly fee of about $110, making it some of the most affordable dockage in Boca Raton. Most docks can accommodate boats up to around 27 feet, depending on location.
Dock availability varies, and residents must join the dock waiting list through the dock master if no dock is immediately available. Another option is renting a dock from a condo owner, as many units include privately owned docks that may be rented if not in use. Dock rental and use is limited to Boca Bayou residents only, and docks cannot be purchased separately, they are deeded with specific condos.
Can I rent my condo in Boca Bayou?
Yes, rentals are allowed in Boca Bayou, but rules vary by section. Condos in the Caribbean and Harbor Home sections require one year of ownership before renting, while most other Boca Bayou condos may be rented immediately after closing. Rentals are limited to once per year with a minimum rental period of three months, making seasonal and annual rentals the most common.
All tenants must complete an association interview and application, which includes background screening. Owners are strongly encouraged to conduct their own credit and financial checks to ensure tenant suitability and protect their investment.
Does Boca Bayou allow me to have a grill and grill on my balcony?
No, personal gas or charcoal grills are not allowed on condo balconies in Boca Bayou due to Palm Beach County fire safety regulations for multi-family buildings. However, residents have access to multiple recently renovated community barbecue areas with natural gas grills, many of which feature beautiful waterfront views and are conveniently located throughout the community.
